The average Medicare Supplement Plan G cost in Bucks County, PA is generally between approximately $130 and $250 per month, although some applicants may qualify for rates below or above that range.

Your actual premium depends on your age, ZIP code, sex, tobacco status, household-discount eligibility, insurance company, and requested coverage date.

That is why two Bucks County residents purchasing the same Medicare Supplement Plan G may receive substantially different premiums.

Based on recent quotes I have reviewed, newly eligible Medicare beneficiaries often find rates toward the lower end of the range. Older applicants, tobacco users, and people without available discounts may see higher premiums.

Rates can change, so any published price should be treated as an example rather than a guaranteed quote.

What Is the Average Medicare Supplement Plan G Cost in Bucks County, PA?

There is no single Plan G premium that applies to everyone in Bucks County. Rates vary by age, ZIP code, sex, tobacco use, available household discounts, insurance company and effective date.

As a general 2026 guide, many Bucks County applicants may see Plan G premiums in ranges such as:

  • About $130 to $180 per month for many newly eligible or younger applicants
  • About $180 to $250 per month for many older applicants or people without available discounts
  • Some applicants may see rates below or above these ranges

The important thing is that Plan G benefits are standardized, so the medical benefits are the same regardless of which insurance company issues the policy. The premium can be very different from one company to another.

That is why I recommend comparing several companies before enrolling rather than assuming the first Plan G quote you receive is competitive.

Which Insurance Companies Offer Plan G in Bucks County

Several insurance companies offer Medicare Supplement Plan G in Bucks County.

Availability and pricing can change, and the company with the lowest rate for one person may not be the lowest for someone else.

Because Plan G benefits are standardized, I compare companies based on current rates, discounts, financial strength, underwriting and overall value.

What Does Medicare Supplement Plan G Cover?

Medicare Supplement Plan G is one of the most comprehensive Medigap plans available to people who became eligible for Medicare after January 1, 2020.

Plan G generally helps pay:

  • The Medicare Part A hospital deductible
  • Part A hospital coinsurance
  • Up to 365 additional hospital days after Medicare benefits are exhausted
  • Skilled nursing facility coinsurance
  • Medicare Part B coinsurance
  • The first three pints of blood
  • Part B excess charges where legally permitted
  • Limited foreign-travel emergency expenses

Plan G does not pay the annual Medicare Part B deductible.

The Medicare Part B deductible is $283 in 2026. After you satisfy that deductible, Plan G generally pays the remaining Medicare-approved cost sharing for covered Part A and Part B services.

Does Every Plan G Provide the Same Medical Coverage?

Yes.

Medicare Supplement Plan G benefits are standardized. A Plan G from one insurance company provides the same standardized medical benefits as a Plan G from another company.

That means paying a higher premium does not necessarily buy you better Plan G medical coverage.

For example, if one company charges $145 per month and another charges $225 per month, the standardized Plan G benefits are still the same. The differences may be in the premium, household discounts, underwriting, financial strength, customer service and future rate changes.

That is why comparing several companies can make a substantial difference in what you pay over time.

Why Do Plan G Rates Vary So Much in Bucks County?

Insurance companies can charge very different premiums for the exact same standardized Medicare Supplement Plan G coverage.

Your age, Bucks County ZIP code, sex, tobacco use, available household discounts and the insurance company you choose can all affect what you pay.

Your Age

Age is one of the largest pricing factors.

Many Medicare Supplement policies use attained-age pricing, which means the premium may increase as you get older. Other policies may use issue-age or community-rated pricing.

The pricing method does not prevent future rate increases. Claims experience, medical inflation, and companywide adjustments may still affect premiums.

Your Bucks County ZIP Code

Insurance companies may use geographic rating areas.

A person living in Doylestown may not always receive the same quote as someone of the same age living in Bensalem, Quakertown, New Hope, or Yardley.

Even nearby ZIP codes can occasionally produce different premiums.

Sex

Some companies charge different rates for men and women.

The company with the lowest male rate may not be the company with the lowest female rate.

Tobacco Use

Tobacco users may pay more with certain companies.

Each company defines and applies its tobacco rules according to its approved application and rating guidelines.

Household Discounts

Household discounts can make a meaningful difference.

Depending on the insurance company, a discount may be available when:

  • Two people in the household enroll with the company
  • You live with another adult
  • A spouse already has coverage with the company
  • You meet the company’s household-residency requirements

Discount percentages and eligibility rules vary.

Medicare confirms that companies may offer discounts based on factors such as marriage, household enrollment, non-smoking status, electronic payments, or annual premium payments.

Because the same Plan G coverage can vary significantly in price from one company to another, it pays to compare rates before enrolling. Call 215-967-8828 and I can compare current Plan G premiums for your Bucks County ZIP code. There is no additional fee to use my services.

The Insurance Company

Each company establishes its own approved premiums.

One company may be aggressively priced for new applicants while another may charge considerably more for the identical Plan G benefits.

Brand recognition does not guarantee the lowest premium or the best long-term value.

The Policy’s Rate History

The lowest introductory premium is not always the lowest long-term cost.

A company with a very low initial rate may later receive significant rate increases. Another company may begin slightly higher but have a more favorable history.

Past rate performance cannot guarantee future increases, but it is still worth considering.

Which Plan G Companies Are Competitive in Bucks County?

The most competitive company can change based on the applicant.

Companies that may appear in Bucks County Plan G comparisons include:

  • Chubb, with policies issued by Insurance Company of North America
  • Humana
  • Mutual of Omaha companies
  • HealthSpring
  • Aetna companies
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Highmark
  • Other Pennsylvania-approved Medicare Supplement insurers

The company producing the lowest premium for a 65-year-old woman may not produce the lowest premium for a 74-year-old man.

Rates may also change by ZIP code, household discount, tobacco status, and application date.

In recent southeastern Pennsylvania comparisons, Chubb and several other companies have offered competitive Plan G pricing. That does not mean one carrier will be the lowest for every applicant or remain the lowest indefinitely.

Is the Cheapest Plan G Always the Best Choice?

Not necessarily.

Since Plan G benefits are standardized, price is extremely important, but it should not be the only factor you consider.

When I compare Plan G companies, I also look at:

  • Current premium
  • Household discounts
  • Financial strength
  • Rate history
  • Customer service
  • Underwriting requirements

A slightly higher premium can sometimes make sense if the company offers better overall value, but there is no reason to pay substantially more for the exact same standardized Plan G medical benefits.

Does Plan G Have Copays?

Plan G does not normally impose office-visit or emergency-room copays for Medicare-approved covered services after you have paid the annual Part B deductible.

Once the Part B deductible is met, Plan G generally pays the remaining Medicare-approved Part B coinsurance.

That predictability is one reason many Medicare beneficiaries choose Plan G.

You must still pay for services that Medicare does not cover, including many routine dental, hearing, vision, and long-term custodial-care expenses.

Is Plan G More Expensive Than Plan N in Bucks County?

Plan G usually has a higher monthly premium than Plan N.

Plan N generally requires you to accept:

  • Up to a $20 copay for certain office visits
  • Up to a $50 emergency-room copay when the visit does not result in inpatient admission
  • No coverage for Medicare Part B excess charges

Plan G does not include those Plan N office or emergency-room copays and covers eligible Part B excess charges.

In many Pennsylvania comparisons, Plan N may cost approximately $500 to $800 less per year than Plan G. The actual difference depends on the applicant and company.

Pennsylvania prohibits healthcare practitioners from balance billing Medicare beneficiaries above the Medicare-approved Part B amount for covered services received in Pennsylvania. As a result, Plan N’s lack of excess-charge coverage is usually less concerning for care received within the state.

The issue may still matter when receiving care in another state where excess charges are legally permitted.

How Should I Compare Plan G With Plan N?

Start by calculating the annual premium difference between Plan G and Plan N

For example:

  • Plan G premium: $170 per month
  • Plan N premium: $120 per month
  • Monthly difference: $50
  • Annual difference: $600

You would then decide whether Plan G’s reduced copay exposure and excess-charge protection are worth the additional $600 per year.

Plan G may appeal to someone who:

  • Wants highly predictable medical expenses
  • Has frequent office visits
  • Does not want to think about copays
  • Regularly receives care outside Pennsylvania
  • Finds only a small premium difference

Plan N may appeal to someone who:

  • Wants a lower monthly premium
  • Has relatively few doctor visits
  • Is comfortable with occasional copays
  • Receives most care in Pennsylvania
  • Can save several hundred dollars per year

Neither plan is automatically better for everyone.

Does My Health Affect My Plan G Premium?

During your six-month federal Medigap Open Enrollment Period, an insurance company cannot deny your application or charge you more because of your health.

That period begins the first month you are at least 65 and enrolled in Medicare Part B.

After that period, medical underwriting may apply unless you qualify for a guaranteed-issue right.

A company may then:

  • Ask medical questions
  • Review prescription history
  • Approve the application
  • Decline the application
  • Apply its permitted underwriting rules

Medicare advises that underwriting may affect your ability to purchase or switch Medigap coverage after your protected enrollment period ends.

Can I Lower My Existing Plan G Premium?

Possibly.

If your Plan G premium has increased, you may be able to apply for the same Plan G coverage through another insurance company.

Because Plan G benefits are standardized, switching companies does not necessarily mean reducing your medical coverage it just means lowering your premium.

However, medical underwriting may be required.

Before changing policies:

  1. Compare current Plan G rates.
  2. Review the new company’s underwriting questions.
  3. Submit the new application.
  4. Wait for written approval.
  5. Confirm the approved premium and effective date.
  6. Cancel the old policy only after the replacement is secure.

Do not cancel your current Medicare Supplement policy while another application is pending.

Is There a Separate Fee for Using a Medicare Broker?

In most situations, no.

Medicare Supplement companies generally compensate licensed brokers when a policy is issued. The broker does not add a separate surcharge to the insurance-company premium.

The premium is generally the same whether you enroll directly through the company or through an appointed broker.

A broker can help compare:

  • Multiple insurance companies
  • Household discounts
  • Plan G and Plan N
  • Underwriting questions
  • Current rates
  • Effective dates
  • Replacement procedures

The value is being able to compare several companies instead of receiving information from only one insurer.

How Often Should I Review My Plan G Rate?

Reviewing the premium every year or two is reasonable, particularly after a noticeable rate increase.

You do not need to change companies every time the premium rises.

A review may show that:

  • Your current premium is still competitive
  • Another company offers meaningful savings
  • Plan N may provide better value
  • Underwriting makes staying put the safer option
  • The available savings are too small to justify changing

A review should be based on current quotes and your health eligibility—not fear created by a routine premium notice.

The Bottom Line

The average Medicare Supplement Plan G cost in Bucks County, PA is commonly between approximately $130 and $250 per month, but no single rate applies to everyone.

Your premium depends on your age, sex, ZIP code, tobacco status, household-discount eligibility, company, and application date.

Every standardized Plan G provides the same core medical benefits. That makes comparing rates extremely important.

The goal is not simply choosing the company with the most recognizable name. It is finding a financially sound company offering competitive current pricing and reasonable long-term value.
